In the heart of Picpoul de Pinet's appellation

Domaine Gaujal is owned by the Gaujal family since 1743. This beautiful Estate is run now by Laurent Gaujal who succeeded his father Ludovic in 2013.

The entire vineyard covers 30 hectares, including 12 of Piquepoul, in the heart of Picpoul de Pinet’s appellation, on fairly flat grounds, very close to the Mediterranean.

Soil : The local Piquepoul grape, on average 30 years old, is cared for the traditional way (goblet pruning, ploughing of the soil).

The soil is calcareous clay with a very high percentage of pure limestone (54%).
This special feature may be described as the « secret » of Picpoul, as it gives it this very personal flinty taste.

Piquepoul 100%

Harvesting is performed with grapes that are totally ripe (between 13 and 15.5°). The 2023 vintage was harvested at 13.6°. The purpose is to keep as much as possible the soil specificity.

Vinification is run at low temperature (17°) after careful racking. Bottling is being made in the second half of January.

Bouquet of white flowers and lime. The taste is long lasting, very flowery although not sweet, with a touch of flint. Later it will evolve towards almond and exotic fruit.

Serve chilled. A wine that will suit perfectly the seafood and oysters produced so close to its territory, in the Mediterranean. Try it also with asparagus or delicate white meat like lamb. It will also match dry goat cheese, or can be enjoyed on its own.
